Code of Conduct
At AKAM we are devoted to the renewal of your mind, body, and spirit. To enjoy your experience to the fullest, please observe the code of conduct, which was developed to ensure your satisfaction in service, comfort and safety, as well as the other clients and staff.
As a client it is your responsibility to:
-Communicate your preferences, expectations, and concerns to your therapist.
-Give complete and accurate health information including pregnancy and allergy information as well as the reason for your visit. (notify staff of any changes in health information)
-Treat staff and other clients with courtesy and respect
-Use products, equipment, and therapies as directed.
-Adhere to AKAM published policies and procedures.
-Practice good hygiene before and after any sessions.
As a valued client, you have the right to:
-A clean, safe, comfortable environment.
-Stop a treatment at any time, for any reason.
-Be treated with consideration, dignity, and respect.
-Confidential treatment of any of your disclosed health information.
-Trained staff who respectfully conduct treatments according to treatments protocols and AKAM policies and procedures.
-Ask questions about your experience.
-Information regarding staff training, licensing, and certification.
Health and Safety
We appreciate your understanding and support during these times. Every change we have administered have all been for your safety and well-being. To keep everyone safe, we ask that all clients please abide by the following procedures.
Health: If you have a cough, fever, shortness of breath, or any other symptoms that could spread a contagious illness, or if you have been around someone with these symptoms, we ask that you reschedule. Fees for cancellations due to contagious illness will be waived during this time.
Refrain from visiting our office if in the last two weeks to the appointment, you have exhibited any symptoms of COVID-19, or if you have been in close contact with anyone who has exhibited such symptoms or who tested positive for COVID-19.
*Close physical contact is defined as being within 6 ft of an infected/symptomatic person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24 hour period starting from 48 hours before illness onset( or, for symptomatic individuals, 48 hours prior to test specimen collection).
We ask that all clients complete a self-screening questionnaire before each appointment. If a client has COVID-19 symptoms or has been in contact with someone who has a confirmed COVID-19 case, they will be asked to rest and recover at home.
We will waive cancellation fees for hose who are experiencing symptoms, but no shows will be charged.
Have you experienced any of the following symptoms in the past 48 hours:
Fever or chills
Cough
Shortness of breath or difficult breathing
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Treatment Rooms:
· All treatments rooms are equipped with HEPA filter Air Purifiers with UV-C feature for killing harmful germs and viruses. The HEPA filters quietly replace the air 4 times per hour and are 99.0% effective or greater in removing particulate contaminants, including viruses like COVID-19, and bacteria and fungi from recirculated air.
· We sanitize all tools, equipment, and surface areas before and after each appointment; clients are welcomed to additionally sanitize any are of the treatment room as each room is equipped with a sanitation tray complete with gloves, disinfectant wipes, and sanitizer of their peace of mind.
We stagger appointment times to reduce the number of clients at any given time.
We leave 30 minutes for a thorough pre- and post- treatment sanitization:
Pre-treatment Sanitation:
· Cleans and sanitizes all tools, equipment, and surface areas.
Post treatment Sterilization:
· Towels and linens are immediately removed and washed in the hot sanitation setting of the wash.
If you can touch it, we have sanitized it with hospital grade EPA-certified disinfectants. This includes but is not limited to doorknobs, countertops, light switches, tools, massage tables, etc.
Employees:
All employees will undergo wellness checks and symptoms screenings, including a temperature check with a touch-less thermometer before entering the spa.
No employee is permitted to work if they feel unwell.
Employees will wear a surgical mask and eye covering at all times. For increased safety we have asked our therapist to limit conversations with clients expect during consultation, but please vocalize if you need something changed or have a request or feedback.
We love to give you the peace of mind you need to best enjoy your visit.
To Better Serve You
Customer Satisfaction:
Your satisfaction is very important to us. If you are not satisfied with any service you receive here, please notify us so that we are able to better accommodate you.
Professional Boundaries: Any sexual or unethical solicitations will not be tolerated and will result in non-completion of your service and will be immediately reported to authorities under the guidelines of the massage therapy policies and procedures. You will STILL be charged the full amount plus a $100 inconvenience fee to the therapist. The client will NOT be rescheduled if this occurs.
The breast and genital area will not be massage under any circumstances. Also, gluteal, and hip area will be massaged only with permission and can be worked through the draping if requested.
Sexual interaction or discussion of any kind between the client and the massage therapist is NEVER appropriate and will be immediately reported to the authorities. We do not massage anyone under the age of 18 unless the parent or guardian is in the room and signs their form.
Client Etiquette:
Arrival: Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your appointment to ensure you begin your session on time. Every session starts at the time scheduled so you will need to arrive before the appointment time in order to get into the proper attire.
Tardiness Policy: Clients who arrive late will still be charged in full for the scheduled session. This is to ensure that the next appointment begins at their scheduled time.
Example: If you scheduled an hour session and arrive 15 minutes after your appointment time you will be charged for that hour session but will only receive 45 minutes of treatment for that session including consultation and changing time.
No Call and No Show:If you do not call or show up you will still be charged the full fee for the scheduled service. Cancellations with less than 24 hour notice will be charged in full. NO refunds will be provided for deposits or cancellations received less than 24 hours before a scheduled appointment.
Attire: Please wear clothing that’s easy to remove if possible so that you can begin your treatment on time (i.e sweatpants, shorts). When inside the treatment room, after consulting with your therapist about your treatment, undress to your comfort level. If you need back or chest work, please remove brassiere. All body parts will be covered unless it is being worked on.
AKAM is a smoke free massage establishment.

Policy Changes: In the event we need to change our policies at any time in response to changes in law, policies, or other factors, we will post changes on our website. Those changes will go into effect immediately. The new policy will apply to all clients and past users of our website and will replace any prior policies. We encourage you to periodically visit this page to review our most current policies.
Payments: We accept cash, most major credit cards, and Ahhh Knead A Massage gift cards. We require a credit card be on file in our secure system so we can do contactless payments.
Gratuities:(Tips) are not included in our prices but are highly appreciated by our staff. The standard gratuity is 15-20% of the cost of service provided.
Offers: As a service to our clients, we may on occasion send information to your email address, unless you have told us not to. It is our intention to only send you email communications that will be useful to you and that you want to receive. You may opt out at any time.
Text when you arrive: During this time we ask that you remain in your vehicle once you arrive. Please text or call (865) 399-2055 once you are parked to let us know you have arrived. Once your therapist is ready for you, we will text or call you to let you know you can enter the building.
